It is Olive’s first mother’s day today. As a new dad, celebrating mother’s day has more meaning. What I’ve realized watching Olive become a mother, is the depth of love a mother has for their children. When I see my wife’s meticulous concern for my baby daughter, I can’t help but imagine my mother’s care for me as a baby.
One of the joys of bring a parent is watching your child laugh. Alena’s laugh is so sweet and brings me so much joy. I am grateful for the invention of video, because it allows us to capture that sweetness and replay it over and over again.
One particular afternoon, I threw a pillow into Alena’s crib. She thought it was hilarious and laughed and laughed and laughed. We caught her laughter on video.
On Mother’s Day, I dedicate this video of our laughing baby to Olive on her first mother’s day, to my mom, to Olive’s mom, and to all the mothers out there. May your children continue to bring you much joy.
